Tornadoes damaged buildings and vehicles in Florida overnight and into early Thursday morning as severe storms tracked into the state ahead of a low-pressure system.
Damage was reported early Thursday along the state's Gulf Coast near Clearwater Beach in the Tampa Bay area and Crystal River just to the north, according to National Weather Service reports. The NWS said in an update later Thursday morning that at least two tornadoes struck the area.
Photos from the Clearwater Beach Police Department showed debris in streets and a vehicle's windshield pierced by an object. The police department reported no injuries from the storm.
Roof damage and downed power lines were reported with a tornado near Crystal River. As a result of the damaging storms, Citrus County announced that its schools would be closed Thursday.
Damage was also reported in Sarasota and Pasco counties.
Later in the morning, another possible tornado left damage across the state in Palm Coast, located north of Daytona Beach in Flagler County. A social media post showed an overturned car; local police said no injuries had been reported.
Northern and central parts of Florida continued to see a few more severe storms through Thursday.
Here's a look at the latest radar and any valid watches and warnings.
