A brush fire continued to burn near San Luis Obispo overnight, but residents were allowed to return home late Monday and a nearby highway reopened.
The Avila Fire has burned about 400 acres near Avila Beach along California's Central Coast. It was about 10% contained, according to Cal Fire, and no structures were damaged.
Highway 101 had been closed in both directions near the fire, but all lanes were reopened by late Monday.

According to a Cal Fire update on Monday night local time, the fire had burned at least 400 acres. There were no reports of injuries, and the cause of the fire is unknown.
At the time the wildfire was sparked, temperatures in the area were in the low 70s, but winds were gusty, aiding in rapid growth.
San Luis Obispo is about 200 miles northwest of Los Angeles.
