At least one person was killed Thursday as deadly tornadoes and storms raked the Deep South for a second day in a row.
The Leon County Sheriff's Office in Tallahassee, Florida, said a tree fell on a man around 7 p.m. on the northeast side of town. The victim was dead when first responders arrived on the scene. Another person sustained minor injuries.
Multiple trees were down and power outages were reported throughout the city. Crews were still working to clean up and restore power Friday morning.
Tallahassee resident Nanette Schimpf recounted on Facebook how the storm hit her house, knocked down trees that fell through two cars and damaged an outbuilding.
"Ground zero was insane," Schimpf wrote. "The dogs are still in shock. Barn damaged. Cars totaled. A dozen trees down."

High winds hit the Tampa Bay area.
North Florida was wracked by high winds and several possible tornadoes Thursday evening and afternoon. A civilian was also transported, Anniston EMS said in a statement on Facebook. The injuries were not life threatening.
