Mahomes, Garoppolo won't have to worry about weather, forecasters say

As the Super Bowl sits just mere days away, the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers have overcome all obstacles thus far to make it to the big game. Will the weather throw one last corkscrew into their plans?
Going head-to-head at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, this Sunday night, the AFC and NFC champions are hoping for the weather to remain a non-factor, as it largely has been throughout this postseason.
AccuWeather meteorologists expect that trend to continue this weekend, even with the matchup being played in the first outdoor Super Bowl since 2016. This will be the 11th Super Bowl played in Miami and the the first since 2010. The first five of those Super Bowls were played at the Orange Bowl.
However, a couple of storm systems rolling through the Sunshine State into the weekend could have an impact on travelers and outdoor Super Bowl festivities ahead of the big game.
One storm will roll into the area with spotty showers on Wednesday night, with another storm poised to follow with showers and thunderstorms late Friday through Saturday.
Forecasters say this second storm, which has the potential to turn into a nor'easter, will clear the area on Sunday, with at most a lingering shower or two during the early morning hours.
Clouds and sunshine are expected throughout the day for pre-game tailgates, concerts and other festivities with a high temperature in the lower to middle 70s F. A normal high in Miami on Feb. 2 is 77.
The last time the two teams squared off was during the regular season on Sep. 23, 2018, at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri. The Chiefs won that game 38-27.

The 49ers are seeking their first Super Bowl win since the 1994-95 season and sixth overall Lombardi Trophy, which would tie the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers for most all-time for a franchise.
The Chiefs are playing on Super Bowl Sunday for the first time since Super Bowl IV on Jan. 11, 1970, when they beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-7.
Underneath a clear to partly cloudy sky, the temperature will fall to the middle to upper 60s by the time of kickoff at 6:30 p.m. EST and drop to near 60 by the time a new Super Bowl Champion is crowned.

A breeze of 6-12 mph will keep AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures 2-4 degrees Fahrenheit lower than the actual temperature throughout the game, so some fans may need a light jacket to stay comfortable.
The breeze should not be enough to have a big impact on the game, especially given the fairly enclosed nature of Hard Rock Stadium.
Dry weather will persist in South Florida early next week as fans and teams return home.
