Black Friday 2019: Mother Nature to give some shoppers a raw deal

Updated Nov. 26, 2019 12:44 PM

Storms will continue to roam across the United States through the Thanksgiving weekend, but which areas will have the best and worst weather for those heading out to shop highly anticipated Black Friday deals?
The best weather for bargain hunters will extend from the Great Lakes to Florida in the East and along much of the Pacific coast in the West as dry conditions are forecast in those areas.

While much of New England will be dry as well, gusty winds from the most recent storm will continue to blast away at the landscape and create painfully low AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures for those waiting outdoors in the early morning.
RealFeel Temperatures will range from the single digits and teens in northern New England to the lower 30s around Washington, D.C. RealFeel temperatures will be in the lower 20s around the Boston area and the upper 20s around New York state at daybreak on Friday.
Farther west, winds will generally be light at the start of the day in cities such as Detroit, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Nashville, Atlanta and Charlotte, North Carolina.
The most comfortable conditions are forecast across the Southeastern states, where light winds and seasonable sunrise temperatures in the upper 30s to the middle 50s are in store.
Meanwhile, areas from Washington state to Central California will be in-between storms on Friday. Conditions will generally be tranquil and dry over this portion of the West at daybreak on Friday.

Cities such as Seattle and Spokane, Washington; Portland, Oregon; and San Francisco and Sacramento, California, can expect dry and chilly conditions for Friday morning.
However, the tail end of a storm that hit the West hard from Tuesday night to Thursday night will still be in full swing across the Rockies and Great Basin. These areas will get a raw deal from Mother Nature on Black Friday.
Areas of heavy rain and isolated flash flooding in the lower elevations of the Southwest with heavy snow and dangerous travel over the mountains are in store. So this will not be the best of mornings to venture out for those bargains.
In parts of Southern California, areas of low-elevation rain showers and mountain snow will linger during Friday morning.
In the Phoenix area, heavy rain that is forecast to fall during Thursday night may continue to cause areas of urban flooding on Friday morning.
Major metro areas that are likely to experience slippery and cold conditions from the storm include Salt Lake City and Denver during Friday morning.
While snow is likely to hold off for the morning around Minneapolis, weather conditions around the Twin Cities are forecast to deteriorate as the midday and afternoon hours progress as a wintry mix arrives.
Wet weather is in store from Texas to the central Plains with umbrellas being a helpful option in Dallas; Oklahoma City; Kansas City, Missouri; and Omaha, Nebraska. Spotty showers are forecast in the Houston area.
