This weekend will feature a mini storm of outdoor activities in northeastern Pennsylvania including the NASCAR Gander RV 400 at Pocono Raceway and the Peach Music Festival at Montage Mountain, near Scranton.
The weather this weekend is forecast to generally cooperate for racing and outdoor concerts in northeastern Pennsylvania, as well as ballgames, picnics, weddings, bazaars, block parties and swimming activities elsewhere in the northeastern part of the nation.

However, with a slight uptick in humidity levels and high temperatures mainly in the 80s F, both days of the weekend are likely to feature a light speckling of afternoon and evening thunderstorms.
A slight southward dip in the jet stream that represents a pocket of cool air aloft will contribute to the garden variety thunderstorm campaign.
The overall coverage of storms where thunder can be heard and lightning seen is likely to be on the order of 10% of the region or less into Sunday. The actual number of places that get a few drops of rain to a legitimate downpour may be less than 5% of the region.
As far as exactly which locations will be hit or missed by the storms will be completely random through most of the weekend. The storms will tend to favor the inland areas and over the mountains and not the Atlantic coast beaches.
However, even in the areas that are affected by the pop-up thunderstorm activity, the vast majority of the weekend will be rain-free and just fine for outdoor activities.
