Severe thunderstorms near New Orleans, Louisiana, caused flash flooding and sparked a tornado warning for the area on Wednesday, July 10, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
This video, taken along the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, shows a dark funnel cloud churning in the distance over a body of water. The NWS had warned that the storms may produce waterspouts, and later retweeted a video showing what was described as a waterspout off New Orleans.
The City of New Orleans tweeted that City Hall was closed and drivers should stay off roads. Floodwater inundated buildings and submerged streets in the area.
