Sports fans to enjoy this weekend's weather in London for Cricket World Cup, Wimbledon finals

By Kristina Pydynowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist

Despite the absence of extreme heat, sports fans flocking to London will need to apply sun cream before heading to the finals for Wimbledon and the Cricket World Cup this weekend.
London will be abuzz with excited tennis and cricket fans as the tournaments for each sport come to a close this weekend.
Serena Williams and Simona Halep will face off on Saturday at Wimbledon for the women's final. The match will start at 2 p.m. BST (9 a.m. EDT).

The men's final at Wimbledon will follow on Sunday, when the champion of the Cricket World Cup will also be crowned. England will battle New Zealand at Lord's Cricket Ground, starting at 10:30 a.m. BST (5:30 a.m. EDT).
Players and fans at all these final matches will not have to worry about dangerous heat surging back into London this weekend.
A high of 24 C (76 F) is expected on Saturday, followed by temperatures climbing to a near-seasonable level of 22 C (72 F) on Sunday. Sunny spells are anticipated both days of the weekend.
However, protection is needed from the strong July sun regardless of the temperature this time of year.

"Fans in open seating areas will want to make sure to have hats, sunglasses and sun cream," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Bill Deger.
An odd shower cannot be ruled out on Saturday afternoon, but any shower will be brief and light and not expected to impact play at Wimbledon.
The risk of another shower will wane even further for Sunday.
