...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM NOON EDT TODAY THROUGH
TUESDAY MORNING...

The National Weather Service in Upton has expanded the

* Flash Flood Watch to include a portion of southeast New York,
including the following areas, Northern Westchester, Orange,
Putnam, and Rockland.

* From noon EDT today through Tuesday morning

* Rain showers with embedded thunderstorms will develop and move
across the area today through early Tuesday. Multiple rounds of
thunderstorms and heavy rainfall will be possible. Rainfall
totals of around 1.5 to 2 inches are expected with locally
higher amounts possible.

* Flash flooding will be possible, especially in areas of poor
drainage, low-lying areas, and in urban areas. Fast reacting
rivers and streams may flood as well.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.

Eastern Bergen, Eastern Essex, Eastern Passaic, Eastern Union,
Hudson, Western Bergen, Western Essex, Western Passaic, and
Western Union. In southeast New York, Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn),
New York (Manhattan), Northern Nassau, Northern Queens,
Richmond (Staten Island), Southern Nassau, Southern Queens,
and Southern Westchester.
