Stormy conditions may disrupt 1st week of Women's World Cup in France

By Eric Leister, AccuWeather senior meteorologist

Following a windy and potentially wet start to the Women's World Cup on Friday in Paris, France, more unsettled weather may affect group stage matches in the opening days of the tournament.
Saturday's action will include three matches taking place across France, and the weather may play a factor in the outcomes.
A shower or thunderstorm is possible for the match between Norway and Nigeria, which will take place in Reims at 9 p.m., local time. Showers and thunderstorms will also be possible in the hours leading up to the start of the match.

A brief shower can dampen play at the match between Germany and China in Rennes, which begins at 3 p.m., local time.
The match between Spain and South Africa, taking place in Le Havre, will be rain-free; however, gusty winds of 32-48 km/h (20-30 mph) are expected.
Adverse weather will continue to be a threat on Sunday, as the match between Brazil and Jamaica taking place in Grenoble will be at risk for a shower or thunderstorm.
A brief shower may occur for the match between Australia and Italy in Valenciennes, while dry weather prevails in Nice as England faces off with Scotland.
On Monday, showers and thunderstorms will again be a concern as the match between Argentina and Japan takes place in Paris.
Dry weather will result in favorable weather for the battle between Canada and Cameroon in Montpellier.

Tuesday's matchups will feature the first showing for the United States as they go up against Thailand in Reims. Showers are possible with a slight chance of a thunderstorm. The match is set to take place at 9 p.m., local time, and 3 p.m. EDT.
Wet weather will also be a concern for the matches between Chile and Sweden as well as New Zealand and Netherlands taking place on Tuesday.
Unsettled weather may continue during the second half of next week, causing further concerns for matches as the group stage continues.
