2019 French Open: Following Friday's delays, showers may dampen the finals this weekend

By Eric Leister, AccuWeather senior meteorologist

Following a total cancellation of matches on Wednesday, more rain is in the forecast for the 2019 French Open's final days.
While the rainfall will keep any heat at bay for the remainder of the tournament, the wet weather will also bring the risk of additional delays.
A few showers dampened the Paris area on Friday morning before steady rain caused delays in semifinal action during the afternoon.

While rain will be the primary threat, a few rumbles of thunder and lightning cannot be ruled out through Friday evening.
Even when rain isn't falling, a gusty wind will make play difficult at times during the afternoon and evening hours.
Cloudy skies and occasional rainfall will keep temperatures lower than normal with a high of 18 C (64-65 F).

The final weekend of play will feature the return of some daily sunshine, though there will continue to be a risk for rainfall.
A brief shower is possible on Saturday at any point during the day and a rumble of thunder cannot be ruled out; however, most of the day will be rain-free with a high temperature of 19 C (66-67 F).
Dry weather is expected for much of the day on Sunday with a mixture of clouds and sunshine. There will be an increased chancefor a shower or thunderstorm during the afternoon and evening hours.

Temperatures will finally return to seasonable levels for the final day of play as afternoon temperatures climb to around 21 C (70 F).
Despite the lack of heat, the return of sunshine will also mean a higher risk for sunburn, so spectators should apply sunscreen and seek out shade when possible.
Philippe-Chatrier Court, the primary venue at Roland Garros, remains the only stadium out of the four Grand Slam tennis tournaments that does not have a roof to help avoid lengthy rain delays.
