After not hitting the 70-degree Fahrenheit mark in February for the first time on record, another temperature phenomenon is about to occur in Los Angeles.
For the first time since Nov. 15, temperatures in downtown Los Angeles are expected to reach 80 degrees.
"A pleasant weekend is in store across California after what has been a wet, drought-ending winter season," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Brett Rathbun.
This milestone is long overdue, as the average date of the first 80-degree day is Jan. 28. While within sights of the latest date - April 15, a record set exactly 100 years ago - no new record is expected this year.

On Saturday, the thermometer is expected to kiss the 80-degree mark under a mostly sunny sky. Similar conditions are in the forecast for the downtown area for Sunday and Monday as well, making for a very pleasant weekend.
Nearby cities such as Ventura and Santa Barbara are not expected to reach the same milestone this weekend, though it will be warmer than recent days with temperatures in the 70s.
However, areas away from the coast will be subject to less-favorable conditions.
"There will be gusty winds across some of the canyons and passes with Saturday the windiest day of the two," Rathbun warned.
Gusts can reach 25 to 35 mph, he said, which would make hiking, biking or otherwise enjoying the wilderness of Southern California a less pleasant experience.

Early next week, the warm, dry pattern is expected to come to an abrupt end.
"Another round of wet weather will set its sights on the state around Tuesday to Wednesday of the upcoming week, along with slightly cooler air," Rathbun said.
This rain will help the state to pull even further out of drought, which recently came to an end after more than seven years.
