Storm Freya battered France with strong winds and rain into Monday, and another storm has already arrived.
The storm, which has been named Laura by Spain's meteorological agency, will be more far reaching as locations from France to Spain and Portugal endure downpours into Wednesday night.
Downpours impacted all of Portugal and northwestern Spain Tuesday night, enhancing the risk for localized flooding.
Rain tapered off in these areas on Wednesday; however, rainfall of 25-75 mm (1-3 inches) was common from central Portugal to northwest Spain.
While conditions began to improve in Portugal and northwest Spain by Wednesday afternoon, downpours spread eastward across much of the remainder of the Iberian Peninsula.
A soaking rain fell across Madrid Wednesday morning and will taper to a few showers by Wednesday evening.
Strong winds will be another component of Storm Laura with frequent wind gusts of 35-65 km/h (22-40 mph) throughout the storm.
Farther east, the rain will diminish quickly with just a couple of showers reaching Barcelona and Spain's eastern coastline through Wednesday night.
Locations across France will also have to contend with a period of rain and strong winds from Storm Laura.
Rain spread into southwestern, central and northeastern France on Wednesday.
In Paris, showers dampened the city on Wednesday and a steady rainfall is expected Wednesday night. A few showers are likely to linger into Thursday morning.
Strong winds will also sweep across France; however, gusts are not expected to be as strong as what occurred from Sunday into Monday as Storm Freya impacted the region.
Frequent wind gusts of 35-65 km/h (22-40 mph) are expected into Thursday, with locally higher gusts near the northern coastline.
Additional chances for rainfall and gusty winds are expected from Friday into the weekend across much of France.
This unsettled weather pattern may persist for much of next week, along with the risk for another named windstorm to affect parts of the country during this time.
