After the last of Trevor's moisture helps to soak eastern Australia into the start of the weekend, attention will turn toward a new tropical threat set to brew around the Timor Sea.
One week ago, Australia was facing a dual strike by cyclones Veronica and Trevor.
While Veronica has since dissipated, moisture from Trevor is helping to fuel adverse weather across eastern Australia.
"A front tapping into some of the lingering tropical moisture from Trevor will continue to produce rain—some heavy—and thunderstorms from eastern Victoria and eastern New South Wales to southeastern Queensland into Saturday, local time," said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Jason Nicholls.
Local flash flooding and severe thunderstorms are concerns.

Drier weather will return for Sunday with no organized tropical cyclones roaming the waters around Australia.
The tropics are expected to remain quiet for the first few days of April, but that can change later in the new week as a tropical feature forms around the Timor Sea.

"AccuWeather.com meteorologists have high confidence that a tropical cyclone will form in early April, but that may not happen until at least Thursday," said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dave Houk.
"When it does start to organize, it may intensify pretty quickly," he added.

Seas will build as the cyclone takes shape, creating dangers for boaters and swimmers. Downpours may also stream onto the coast of the Northern Territory's Top End region.
The cyclone may track far enough offshore for the strongest winds and heaviest rain to remain over water from April 6-9, but a track into northern Western Australia is also being monitored.
"With anticipated development still several days away, it is best that residents from the islands and coast of the Northern Territory and Western Australia keep a close out on the potential cyclone," Houk said.
Now is a good time to review what preparations would need to be made should a cyclone or flooding rain threaten.
