More springlike weather is expected to descend upon Chicagoland, just in time for this year's St. Patrick's Day festivities.
The Chicago Sun Times reported that while other cities such as Boston, Philadelphia and New York have respectable celebrations, the Windy City came out on top of the best cities in the country to spend March 17, according to WalletHub.
Anyone heading into town by car or train at the end of the week can expect generally smooth travel, though windy weather on Thursday, and to a lesser degree Friday, can lead to airline delays. Delays are also possible from airports based in the Northeast on Friday as a breezy, rainy day unfolds, though widespread cancellations are unlikely.
Once revelers arrive in the city, "a dry but chilly St. Patrick's Day weekend can be expected for the Chicagoland area," AccuWeather Meteorologist Brett Edwards said.

Completely dry and calm weather is expected by Saturday, making for favorable conditions as crews head out to dye the Chicago River that morning.
"Temperatures will struggle to get above 40 degrees Fahrenheit, and with some clouds across the area, patrons should bring an extra layer to stay warm," Edwards said.
Hats, gloves and scarves will be appreciated by anyone spending time outside to watch the parade at midday on Saturday.
For the Southside Irish Parade, which kicks off at noon on Sunday, more pleasant conditions are expected despite temperatures peaking in the mid-40s F.

According to Edwards, "plenty of sunshine will make it feel like a nice spring day in the City."
While coats and hats may still be needed, sunglasses will be useful as well. In areas of full sunshine, it may even be nice enough for restaurants and bars to provide outdoor seating options.
As the party winds down and travel out of the city begins, generally quiet weather is expected nationwide, making for a smooth ride home.
