Weather-related travel delays could impact portions of the South, East and Northwest for the return home this weekend.
Here is a look at what to expect through Sunday.
Saturday
A storm system that's been stalled over Texas will slowly push northeastward to begin the weekend.
That means a broad area from the South into the Mississippi and Ohio valleys could see rainfall either Saturday or Saturday night. Rainfall could be heavy at times in some of these areas, especially on the Gulf Coast.
Rain and mountain snow could impact parts of the Northwest and Northern Rockies, but it's not expected to be widespread.
Sunday
Soaking rain could contribute to widespread travel delays from the Great Lakes to the East Coast as the storm system tracks through those areas to finish the holiday weekend.
At least some flight delays are likely at the major New York City metro airports either from low clouds or from gusty winds associated with the storm.
A few showers could linger ahead of the cold front in the Florida Peninsula, but shouldn't be a major concern.
In the Pacific Northwest, rain is likely near the coast as snow spreads to interior portions of the region.
