Wimbledon 2019: Warmth surging into London area won't last long

By Kristina Pydynowski, AccuWeather senior meteorologist

Players and spectators at Wimbledon will not have to endure the warmth surging back into the London area much longer.
Friday is bringing a near-repeat of Thursday's weather, with temperatures climbing to 26 C (near 80 F) underneath sunny spells.
Whilst warm for early July, temperatures on Friday will stop well short of soaring to 34 C (93 F), last Saturday's high at Heathrow Airport. A high of 21 C (70 F) is more common this time of year.
Temperatures will be trimmed to more seasonable levels on Saturday.

An odd shower may lightly dampen the courts on Saturday afternoon. Any delays and need for brollies would be brief.
Cloud will be more prevalent than sunshine, otherwise, for the first Saturday of play.
After a break on Sunday, play will continue next Monday with Round of 16 action for both men's and women's singles and doubles.
Latest indications point toward comfortable and dry weather holding for early next week.

Despite heat being absent, players and fans will still need to protect themselves against the strong July sun early next week.
"Fans in open seating areas will want to make sure to have hats, sunglasses and sun cream," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Bill Deger.
New this year at Wimbledon is a retractable roof at No. 1 Court, which will allow play to continue in the event of harsh weather conditions such as rain, wind and heat.
