By Eric Leister, AccuWeather senior meteorologist

Heavy rainfall has triggered deadly flooding and mudslides across parts of Nepal and northern India in recent days and more rain is on the way.
Flooding and landslides have killed at least 78 people and left more than 30 others missing in Nepal since Friday, according to the Associated Press.
More than 1,400 people have been rescued from flooded areas and more than 10,000 households are estimated to have been displaced.

The deadly weather also affected parts of northeast India with 19 deaths reported in Assam and 24 in Bihar from the recent flooding and mudslides, according to the AP.
Travel has been impacted across the region and further flooding is expected in the coming days as downpours continue to inundate northeast India.
Daily rainfall totals of 50-150 mm (2-6 inches) will remain possible into the middle of the week. Downpours can trigger new flooding and slow recovery efforts.

More than 4 million have been affected by flooding in Assam, according to Tuesday's daily statement from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority.
Several rivers across the state, including the Brahmaputra, were listed at dangerously high levels. Some of the embankments along the rivers are eroding, threatening neighboring villages.
Deadly downpours have also affected northwest India in recent days. A building collapsed during heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh on Monday, killing at least 14 people and injuring more than two dozen others, according to the Hindu.
Downpours across Jammu and Kashmir and neighboring Pakistan triggered flash flooding from Sunday into Monday.

The flooding killed at least 28 people and destroyed multiple homesand mosques in the Azad Kashmir region, according to the Express Tribune. The number of deaths is expected to rise as dozens remain missing.
Thunderstorms spread across India's National Capital Region (NCR) on Monday, bringing some brief relief from the recent heat and humidity.
More rainfall is expected in the coming days across the NCR, but not all of central and northwest India will be so lucky.

Locations across southern Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and northern Chhattisgarh will record little or no rainfall through Wednesday.
Residents instead will be at risk for heat-related illnesses due to a mixture of sweltering heat and humidity.
Conditions will be most oppressive in western Rajasthan where actual temperatures are expected to climb between 37 and 40 C (99 and 104 F) daily. When oppressive humidity is factored in and wind lessens, AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures will approach or reach 43 C (110 F) during the afternoon.
A gusty breeze can also cause blowing dust to reduce visibility. Hazardous air quality will further add to the dangers residents of the region.

While the heat will be most extreme during the afternoon, sweltering conditions will last through the night with temperatures only dropping between 27 and 29 C (lower 80s F).
Precautions should be taken to avoid heat exhaustion or heatstroke. Be sure to drink plenty of water and wear light clothing.
Strenuous activities should be avoided, especially during the midday and afternoon (the hottest times of the day). If such work is necessary, take frequent breaks.
"No significant change in the weather pattern is anticipated across India into this weekend," according to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Jason Nicholls.
While the monsoon has been officially declared in the NCR, places near the border of Rajasthan and Pakistan will have to wait until later in the month.
"The monsoon may reach Pakistan no earlier than the week of July 22," Nicholls said.
