An epic video has surfaced online of the collapse of a dock at a local marina in Gilbertsville, Kentucky, last Sunday. The horror-like collapse occurred while a group rushed out of their boat onto a dock, as a tornado tore across the dock right next-door. Their seemingly quick escape to safety may be described as a dangerously close call.
"I had no idea that big sheet of tin flew directly behind me. Glad we all dropped to the ground," Trotski Gaming commented under the YouTube video.
Another YouTube viewer commented what many of us may be thinking watching the video, "that was too close!"
Fortunately, no one was hurt in the incident.
“We are so thankful and amazed that no one was injured during the tornado on Sunday,” the Moors Resort and Marina wrote in a tweet on Tuesday after the incident.

The tornado tore through a 50 yard section of the marina, one of the three sections that extends into the lake. The extension was "twisted and overturned" by the twister, and a nearby docked boat was lifted and overturned, according to NWS's severe weather report.
"The entire marina structure was shifted several feet and pulled away from the shore, dislodging several spud poles that anchored the floating marina structure to the lake bottom," the NWS report reads.
Shortly after the tornado swept through the region, the marina wrote that the harbor survived “a brutal hit.” Luckily, the damage was contained to A and B dock, and there is no other damage across the resort, the marina wrote.
Aerial footage showed the extent of damage to the marina.
“All lodging, the campground, and Ralph's are just fine and open! The marina store is fine, as well, but will be closed tomorrow,” the marina tweeted on Monday.
The marina, located in Marshall County along Kentucky Lake, is a local tourist attraction. Surrounding tourism groups continue to encourage visitors. The Lake Kentucky tourism page wrote on Facebook on Monday that the Moors Resort and Marina is "fully functional" following the storms.
However, other surrounding tourism spots surrounding the lake were not as fortunate. The Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park has limited operations and the Kentucky Dam Marina is still currently being assessed after storm damage.

On Sunday, two brief EF1 tornadoes touched down in Livingston County, Kentucky, according to the local NWS office. A brief EF1 tornado touched down just south of the course at the Dam Village Golf Course. This was just days after storms damaged the Kentucky Dam Marina on Friday, June 21.
Sunday’s storm damage was not isolated to the marina. The devastation from the storms was felt around the Paducah area. Several local churches reported damage after the storms rolled through the region. A tree collapsed onto the roof of the Lebanon United Methodist Church in Hendron, Kentucky. And nearby in Smithland, a roof collapsed inside the Harbor Holiness Church, leaving a pile of debris.
Across Marshall County, scattered straight-line damage included broken large tree limbs and uprooted trees, NWS reports.
Also in the Paducah area, a female student collapsed on the Murray State University campus during the storms on Sunday. There were originally reports that the woman was struck by lightning, but the cause of the injury remains unconfirmed, the Local 6 News team reports.
The Paducah area has experienced an uptick in severe weather in recent weeks. Between June 16 and June 23, there have been 115 tornado, severe thunderstorm and flash flood warnings in the area. In comparison, there were 159 severe storm warnings over the entirety of the period from Oct. 1, 2018, to June 15, 2019, according to the NWS.
