After poor weather conditions pestered the Cricket World Cup in the United Kingdom late this week, more showers can dampen the fixtures scheduled for this weekend.
Persistent rain from late Wednesday to Thursday morning caused the pitch at Trent Bridge in Nottingham to be too wet for the fixture between India and New Zealand to be played.
Around 3 p.m. local time, officials called off the match.
The nearby airport at Leeds and Bradford reported continuous rain for 18 hours. The resultant flooding led to many road closures on Thursday morning around Nottinghamshire, the county's Fire and Rescue Service reported.

Cricket World Cup action will continue on Saturday with two fixtures, one in London and the other in Cardiff.
Sri Lanka faces Australia in the late-morning hours at the Oval in London. Amid sunny spells, an odd shower can cross the area during the match. Temperatures may be around 17 C (63 F) when the fixture starts.
A few hours later, Cardiff Wales Stadium will host the fixture between South Africa and Afghanistan.
