Both dangerous heat and severe thunderstorms will be a concern this week from France into Germany and southern Scandinavia.
Relief from rounds of intense heat is on the way; however, it will come with the risk for violent thunderstorms.
Blistering heat will last for one more day in western Europe on Tuesday as high temperatures are expected to reach 32 C (90 F) in Amsterdam, 34 C (94 F) in Brussels and 36 C (96 F) in Paris.

Areas from Paris to Amsterdam will feel relief from the heat by Wednesday; however, severe thunderstorms will also be a concern ahead of the cooler air that arrives Tuesday afternoon and evening.
These storms will be capable of producing flash flooding, damaging winds and hail.
“Any time you encounter flooded roadways, turn around immediately and do not try to pass through the flooding,” said AccuWeather Meteorologist Tyler Roys.
High temperatures on Wednesday will only climb to 24-28 C (75-82 F) from northern and central France into Netherlands in the wake of Tuesday’s violent storms.

The intense heat will hold on into midweek across eastern France and Germany, where high temperatures of 30-36 C (86-96 F) are forecast for Wednesday.
The most intense heat will be found across central and eastern Germany, including Berlin, where the heat will linger on Thursday.
Europe Storms 8/6

As cooler air presses eastward and interacts with the much hotter air in place, severe thunderstorms will develop both Wednesday and Thursday.
Areas at risk for these storms include Lyon, France; Frankfurt, Germany; Berlin, Germany; and Copenhagen, Denmark.
Threats from the thunderstorms include flash flooding, damaging winds, hail and even an isolated tornado.
“The area at greatest risk for a tornado will be central and eastern Germany on Thursday,” said Roys.
Cooler air will finally bring an end to the heat wave across all of central Europe by Friday.
