Another warm day is on tap for eastern Germany on Sunday as thunderstorms threaten flash flooding across western areas.
"A storm system will bring cooler conditions and storms to southern and western areas on Sunday," said AccuWeather Meteorologist Rob Richards.
The heaviest of the storms will erupt during the afternoon from Cologne to Frankfurt and Stuttgart. Thunderstorms are expected to be slow-moving and can bring torrential downpours to some areas leading to flash flooding.
Heavy rain and the potential for flooding will lead to travel delays across much of western and southern Germany. Flight and rail delays are possible as well. Many outdoor activities may be canceled or postponed. When thunder is heard, seek shelter indoors.
Germany 5/11

Temperatures will be noticeably lower in western and southern portions of the country, where high temperatures could be as much as 7 C (11 F) lower than Saturday's low.
In contrast, warmth will remain across the east where it will be a dry and pleasant day. Sunny conditions will prevail from Hamburg to Berlin and Dresden.
Temperature highs will be 4-7 degrees C (6-11 degrees F) above average in these locations. While residents in the west who venture outdoors may want an umbrella, people spending time outdoors in the east may opt for sunscreen.
Showers and thunderstorms will spread across the entire country during the middle of the week.
