Germany: Warmth to last into this weekend as thunderstorms diminish

The recent warm spell across Germany will continue into the weekend.
Temperatures in April and May have averaged 2-5 degrees C (4-8 F) above normal throughout all of the country.
Temperatures will soar to or above 27 C (80 F) across parts of western and southern Germany while the rest of the country can expect high temperatures between 24 and 27 C (75 and 80 F) both Saturday and Sunday.
Germany 5/23

These temperatures are more typical of the middle of summer as normal highs in late May range from 18-20 C (65-68 F).
Along with the summerlike warmth, mostly dry weather is expected across western Germany, which will be ideal for any outdoor plans.
The threat for an isolated shower or thunderstorm will persist on both Saturday and Sunday in eastern and southern Germany.
This threat includes Berlin, Dresden, Munich and Stuttgart.
Much of the day will be dry in any given location; however, a shower or thunderstorm can quickly form and ruin outdoor plans.
The most likely time for a shower or thunderstorm will be during the afternoon.
When thunder is heard, make sure to seek shelter to avoid the risk of being struck by lightning.
There will also be a high fire risk across northern Germany where rainfall has been well below normal since the start of spring.
A large area of unsettled weather over western Europe this weekend will expand eastward next week, bringing the risk for more widespread showers and thunderstorms throughout Germany.
While there will be an increased risk for showers and thunderstorms, unseasonable warmth will continue to prevail.
