Buildings Damaged, Injuries Reported After Tornado Hits Northeast Mississippi

    Several buildings were damaged and minor injuries were reported after a large tornado moved through northeastern Mississippi Tuesday evening.
A Dollar General store was destroyed in Tishomingo, near the Alabama state line, at around 5:30 p.m. CT.
Tishomingo police chief Mike Kemp told WTVA-TV that some minor injuries had been reported, several buildings were damaged and trees were down.

A storm spotter also reported serious structural damage along County Roads 106 and 123 south of Highway 30 near the town.
The National Weather Service in Memphis confirmed the tornado moved through shortly after 5:30 p.m. local time.
Severe thunderstorms also moved through parts of Tennessee and Alabama.
A damaging thunderstorm downed 50-60 trees in Decatur, a Huntsville, Alabama, suburb Tuesday evening. More than 16,000 power outages were reported mid-Tuesday evening.
A tornado was also reported in Sewanee, Tennessee, but no damage has been reported so far.
