As Kerala continues to recover from historic flooding, the threat for flooding downpours will shift farther north this week.
Areas along the western coastline of India will be at risk for flooding this week as daily downpours drench areas from Karnataka northward through Maharashtra.
This will put locations such as Mumbai, Mangaluru and Panaji at risk for flash flooding and travel disruptions.

Total rainfall of 75-150 mm (3-6 inches) through Friday will be common in these areas, with an AccuWeather Local StormMax™ of 250 mm (10 inches).
Farther south, occasional showers will dampen the state of Kerala following the worst flooding in decades that claimed the lives of hundreds and people and left thousands displaced.
The absence of heavy rainfall will allow cleanup and recovery efforts to continue while residents return to their homes as floodwaters recede.
Elsewhere, a pair of monsoon lows will lead to rounds of heavy rainfall across the interior of north-central India each day into this weekend.
Areas from northern Chhattisgarh into Madhya Pradesh and southern Uttar Pradesh will be at the greatest risk for flooding and mudslides.
Rainfall totals of 100-200 mm (4-8 inches) will be common this week, with an AccuWeather Local StormMax™ of 300 mm (12 inches).
Locations at risk for these downpours include Indore, Nagpur and Jabalpur.
Such rainfall amounts will be capable of producing life-threatening flooding and mudslides in the hardest-hit areas along with widespread travel disruption across the entire region.
In the longer range, the heaviest rainfall is expected to shift into northeast India next week, allowing for additional drying for Kerala and improved conditions for the rest of western and northern India.
